# Templates and checklists

Templates are how Mustre stays industry-agnostic: your org configures the work and paperwork once, then every job reuses them.

## Job templates

Open **Templates** (Catalog) to manage the job catalog:

* Title, default priority, and economics hints
* Linked **checklist template** (optional)
* Whether **auditor sign-off** is required after field work

When you **Create job**, pick a template so location, checklist, and audit rules are filled in consistently.

## Checklist templates

Checklist items are the evidence types workers complete on site:

| Type | Typical use |
| --------- | ------------------------------------ |
| Checkbox | Confirm a step was done |
| Photo | Before/after or proof of condition |
| Signature | Worker or auditor sign-off |
| Text | Notes, chemical batch, free-form log |

Design checklists for what an inspector or customer needs to see — not one-off fields on the job record.

## Starter packs

On organisation setup, load a **starter pack** for your industry label. Packs seed example job and checklist templates (e.g. poultry turnaround, construction, private hire, property viewing). Edit or replace them — they are content, not hard-coded product rules.

## How templates land on a job

1. Manager creates a job from a **job template** (board, jobs list, or location workflow).
2. The job copies the linked **checklist template** and assignees / crew.
3. Workers complete checklist steps on **mobile** after geofenced clock-in — see [Mobile for operators](/mobile-for-operators).
4. If the template requires audit, the job moves to **Awaiting audit** until a manager signs off on job detail.
5. Completed evidence flows into [inspection packs and invoices](/compliance-and-exports).

## Tips

* Prefer templates over custom one-off job fields so exports stay consistent.
* Turn on audit-required only when a second pair of eyes is truly needed — it adds a step before **Completed**.
* Match starter-pack checklists to your vertical, then trim unused items.
